Our Cats New Quarter's - Still a Work in Progress

001
Our cats still have the run of the house, but we wanted them to have their own room.  There is a cat door leading to the patio/pool.  More photos to come.  I am STILL working on everything...and I'm starting to think I ALWAYS will be ;)

Cleopatra

005Meet Cleopatra:  Our latest foster cat!

003
The 6 inch diameter bowl above shows just how tiny she is.  You might guess her to be 4 months old, but she is actually more than 4 years old!  She got very sick a few weeks ago and lost some hair and a lot of weight.  The shelter took her to the vet and learned she had an infection.  I was very worried about her extreme weight loss and thought she might recover more quickly in a spare room at my house.  She is such a sweet cat.  The type that sleeps right next to you all the time.  I have been trying to give her good food (Royal Canin baby cat is great for cats who need to gain weight), lots of attention, and of course her antibiotics.  She has gained a little weight and has a lot more energy.  I am going to try VERY hard to find her a home.  She has been in the shelter since she was found as a stray kitten four years ago.  She has beautiful green eyes which I'll try to show you later.

Queenie found a home in an assisted living facility where they allow pets.  I'm so happy for her and her new owner.  I also hope more of these assisted living facilities and nursing homes and apartments begin allowing pets more often!

I know I'm always whining about all the little things I have to do, but I just couldn't stop thinking about this cat.  Thanks so much to everyone who stops by and I hope everyone is having a great week :)

SPCA and Petfinder Update

004
As most of you know I take photos at my local SPCA non-kill shelter and list them on Petfinder.  I will be writing a follow-up post about how wonderful Petfinder is and how it works in the next few days.

In the mean time, I wanted to show you some adorable three week old kittens that will be available in May.  I didn't take them out of their cage because their mother is VERY protective!  The next two photos are of Pretty Boy and Pretty Girl who are Russian Blues.  Russian Blues are known for being potentially hypoallergenic.  These two cats have medium to long hair and are SO soft.  However, they would need to be tested due to their hair being long to see whether or not they are in fact hypoallergenic.  The last photo is of a super sweet kitty named Charley.  ALL of these cats would make wonderful pets!

Graduation Day and the Wai Opae Tide Pools in Kapoho

The above photos were taken at the Wai Opae Tide Pools in Kapoho on the Big Island of Hawaii.  This was a very special day for two reasons.  First of all I had a great time in spite of being exhausted on my last day of my Yoga Instructor's training.  Of course the second reason was it was the last day of my Yoga Instructor's training and therefore graduation day!

The Wai Opae Tide Pools in Kapoho are a great place for snorkeling, but also for swimming.  Some areas are very warm and some are quite cool.  As you swim along the temperature seems to change every few feet which might not sound like it feels good, but it really does!

Here are two photos of my fellow graduates and our two fabulous instructors Hayward (the only man pictured) and Star who is pictured at the right side of the second photo.  We had a beautiful ceremony and an incredible dinner.  I am so proud of my certificate which I tried to photo below ~ I DO realize that it's an odd way to display a certificate :)

One Year Later...Remembering Our Beloved Angel Coco

May 29th, 2005 - March 19 2010

"Do not stand on my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in the circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die."

Here is Sasha.  We adopted her five weeks to the day after Coco passed away.  She had just barely gotten to the shelter so we had to take her straight to the vet.  The vet said she was five weeks old.

002 I was able to record a lot of great memories and characteristics of Coco's personality in these books.  Making it and having it are very helpful.  Our other pets and Sasha have been good too. Sasha is A LOT like Coco <3

I hope this didn't make anyone sad.  It wasn't meant to.  Thanks for stopping by :)
