It is SO cold in Florda where we live that mom and dad won't even let us outside to play :/ We wait very patiently each morning by the sliding doors to the patio, but they haven't been open at all for two whole days! They say that the temperature hasn't gotten out of the forties even in the middle of the day :( Dad tries to keep us busy playing laser tag, but we sometimes get our own ideas. Look at Fleur invading one of the Christmas villages like an abominable snow cat!

I am especially thankful this Thursday because all of my pets are healthy :) We went through the scare with Chanel's 15% weight loss and Sasha vomiting and not eating for almost 3 days. Sasha has been back to her normal happy self and Chanel is back to her normal weight of 8 lbs 6 ounces.
So, now onto my big revelation. Coco passed away almost nine months ago and as you all know I've struggled enormously with her loss. It was the first time I'd dealt with death so close to home and it was especally hard for me because she was only five years old. Last week I was walking around in a store trying to hold back the tears because EVERYTHING - blankets, toys, dishes, cat beds, you name it reminded me of Coco for one reason or another. Trust me I know it all sounds a little crazy! I was basically feeling sorry for myself and very miserable. Some days are better than others, but trust me I have had one too many like the one I am describing over the past nine months. When I arrived home I realized Sasha has been vomiting and not eating. I was very afraid after she was still not eating two days later and acting so lethargic which is so not like her. I began to realize how much I have to be thankful for. All of my pets are so special and I know Coco would want me to be grateful for them and not moping around being sad.
Don't get me wrong, I'll still have "those"days thinking about Coco and she will always have a BIG special place in my heart. However, the events of the last week have been a revelation in that I know I need to focus on the present and the future and those who depend on me :)
Thanks for reading and I hope this holiday season brings joy and happiness for all of you!
Chanel is back up to 8 pounds and 1 ounce! She was down to about 7 pounds 3 ounces about 6 weeks ago. She had always weighed about 8 pounds and 12 ounces prior to her weight loss. She is sitting on the chaise lounge above, Fleur is on the big chair hammock and princess is watching the birds.
I'm elated that adoptions are way up at the shelter where I take photos and post them on Petfinder! The above photo is of Noha. This cat was approximately four years old and had been with them since he was a kitten. I guess some of the main volunteers cried when he left.
When it comes to the color of a cat, solid black cats are the least likely to get adopted and the most likely to be euthanized at a kill shelter. I would guesstimate that aproximately 75 % or more of the adult cats at the shelter I help at are all black.
I am going back to the shelter on Friday to update Petfinder and take some more photos.
Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you are having a good week :)
Mexico was beautiful and very relaxing. I also enjoyed spending time with my friends. I tried to get a photo of the harvest moon from our balcony, but I'm not very good at using the different settings on my camera:
As you can imagine, I was hesitant to publish the following photo. We were just goofing off and I know this was the closest I will ever come to being a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, LOL. Frustrating since I have used Kathy Ireland's workout video for years off and on. I believe she was in SI's swimsuit issue for 12 different years!
I missed my family, but knew Chanel and the other pets were all in great hands with my wonderful husband who held down the fort so I could have a girl's week. Chanel is doing great. Thanks to all of you who have asked about her and shown concern :)Thanks for visiting and I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!!
Great news! Chanel has gained a half a pound or 8 ounces in the past few weeks! She used to weigh around 8 pounds and 10 ounces. We thought she was a little heavy then, but she got down to 7 pounds and 3 ounces :(. She currently weighs around 7 pounds 11 ounces. Our vet is optimistic and believes that it is quite likely that she missed her sister Coco a lot. We have been making sure she feels VERY important and knows how much we care about her.
The above photo shows her sleeping in her favorite spot. It's our first pet scale which didn't work very long. I'm sure you can guess why!
I haven't been doing the best job visiting all my favorite blogs because I have been spending time learning how to list my local SPCA's pets on Petfinder's web site. I do think I understand it now and have some sort of system going.
I visited the SPCA today and took a lot more photos of cats like the little siamese mix pictured above. She was SO scared, but so sweet and pretty. She was left outside their gate one night this week in a milk crate tied to the gate with some type of old cell phone charger :(
Now for some good news. The white kitten pictured below was adopted while I was there.
